“Joan Miró: la poesia degli oggetti e della materia”. A major international exhibition for Pordenone Italian Capital of Culture 2027
03/11/2026

A world-exclusive exhibition by the Fundació Joan Miró of Barcelona, offering visitors the opportunity to explore the artist’s creative freedom and spirit of experimentation through paintings and sculptures, on display from 22 January to 30 May 2027 in the newly renovated spaces of Galleria Harry Bertoia (Harry Bertoia Gallery) in Pordenone.
Pordenone Italian Capital of Culture 2027 will officially open with a major international exhibition. Hosted in the newly renovated spaces of Galleria Harry Bertoia, “Joan Miró: The Poetry of Objects and Matter” is an exhibition developed exclusively for Pordenone by the Fundació Joan Miró in Barcelona and curated by Véronique Dupas.
The exhibition offers an insight into the creative universe of Joan Miró, one of the leading figures of twentieth-century art, through a selection of paintings, sculptures, graphic works and artists’ books presented in a dialogue across different artistic media.
The exhibition brings together works of outstanding significance, providing a unique opportunity to explore closely the work and artistic research of an artist who redefined the boundaries of contemporary expression. Alongside paintings, sculptures and graphic works, visitors will discover materials that are rarely accessible to the public, including a selection of previously unseen works from the artist’s private collection, later donated to the Catalan foundation.
The exhibition is structured around three interconnected themes: poetry, understood as a continuous dialogue between imagination, sign and word; the object, transformed by the artist and invested with new meanings; and matter, a field of experimentation through which Miró developed innovative techniques and forms of expression.
The exhibition provides an insight into Miró’s creative process, revealing the dialogue between different artistic media that lies at the heart of his work.
Photographs, audiovisual materials and an original soundtrack created specifically for the exhibition further enrich the visitor experience.
As one of the opening projects of Pordenone’s year as Italian Capital of Culture 2027, the exhibition reflects the city’s commitment to presenting cultural initiatives of significant national and international scope.
