Looking ahead to 2027: Pordenone and the surrounding area prepare for an autumn of culture and new projects
09/10/2026

With 2027 drawing ever closer, Pordenone has already been hard at work for many months. This is reflected in the extraordinary funding allocated by the Department of Culture to support 41 new projects taking centre stage in 2026 through events, exhibitions, workshops and cultural initiatives for the city and the surrounding area. Some are already underway, while others are preparing to open their doors: together, they form a diverse, high-quality programme that is already helping shape the cultural narrative of 2027. Further details about upcoming events will be announced in the coming weeks.
RINASCIMENTO URBANO FESTIVAL
A citywide festival promoted by Associazione Il Castello Torre APS, running from October through to the end of the year and bringing together historical memory and contemporary transformation. The festival places some of Pordenone’s most iconic locations at the heart of a shared cultural narrative. The programme opens on Saturday, 17 October, at 5:00 p.m. with the first lecture at the Bastia of Torre Castle, followed by four more talks at different locations across the city. On Saturday, 7 November, at 11:00 a.m., the Western Friuli Archaeological Museum will open the exhibition The Thread of Memory: Clothing and Identity in the Renaissance. Finally, on Thursday, 19 November, at 8:30 p.m., the former Convent of San Francesco will host a Renaissance music concert performed by the Effemeris Ensemble.
A SENSE YOU WOULDN’T EXPECT
A creative workshop promoted by Polaris Mutat – San Vito al Tagliamento Tactile Museum (Pordenone), offering participants the opportunity to learn how to design and create works of art to be experienced through touch. Starting on Sunday, 18 October, participants will be guided step by step through the process of conceiving and creating a sculpture or installation designed to be explored through touch. The programme comprises five sessions, all taking place at weekends between October and December 2026: three in person at the museum and two online. The workshop is aimed at students attending art schools, academies and universities who are interested in cultural accessibility and sensory design. It is also open to young people and adults who are curious to challenge themselves through an unconventional experience. No artistic skills are required: all that matters is a willingness to experiment and discover, together, “a sense you wouldn’t expect”. The works created during the workshop will subsequently be displayed at MUTAT in a temporary exhibition running from January to June 2027.
MAKING KINDNESS A WAY OF LIFE: FOUR EVENTS TO HELP THE COMMUNITY FLOURISH
Promoted by AVO – Associazione Volontari Ospedalieri Pordenone OdV, this project aims to extend the culture of kindness beyond healthcare settings and into the wider community. The programme is a journey through neuroscience, art, music, education, volunteering and sport, bringing these different fields together around a shared vision of kindness. Launched in May, the initiative continues this autumn with two events. On Friday, 23 October, at 8:30 p.m., the Auditorium Concordia will host “Neuroscience, Well-being and the Quality of Relationships”, featuring naturalist biologist Daniel Lumera, an internationally recognised expert in the science of well-being, and Letizia Espanoli. On Wednesday, 18 November, at 6:00 p.m., at the former Convent of San Francesco, Enrico Galiano and Letizia Espanoli will present “Generations of Kindness: The Future Grows Through Relationships”. This conversation with young people will explore how kindness can become a practical skill that fosters meaningful relationships, promotes a sense of responsibility and helps build a better future.
TRANSITORIO. FORMS OF TIME
An artistic installation created by students from the Technical Institute of Higher Education, specialising in Graphics and Communication, in Sacile and Brugnera. Developed through a series of workshops, the project explores time in its various dimensions: perception, memory and transformation. Sound, images and space will interact to immerse visitors in a visual and auditory experience. The installation will officially open on Thursday, 29 October, at Mercati Culturali Pordenone.
