“Città Aperte”: Pordenone opens its doors to a new way of experiencing culture

On Monday, September 7, at 3:00 pm, Cinemazero will host the presentation and launch event for "Città Aperte" ("Open Cities"), one of the 52 projects included in the dossier for Pordenone Italian Capital of Culture 2027. Two things make this appointment special: it marks the official debut of one of the flagship projects on the road to 2027, and it is an event open to everyone — citizens, associations, schools, institutions and businesses are all invited to take part and contribute from day one.
Promoted by Cinemazero as lead partner, in collaboration with the Municipality of Pordenone and a broad, cross-sector network of local partners — Associazione Comunità San Valentino APS, CRAD FVG, CRIBA FVG, Cooperativa Itaca, Ente Nazionale Sordi – Pordenone Branch, Fondazione Palazzo del Fumetto ETS, Il Melograno and PromoTurismo FVG — “Città Aperte” is built on a simple yet ambitious idea: making a city truly accessible means more than removing physical barriers; it also requires addressing cultural, informational and relational ones.
The goal is to promote a shift in perspective on accessibility, engaging the entire greater Pordenone area in a shared path toward a territory where everyone can live and access culture independently, safely and with full participation.
Among the actions planned for 2027: a free training programme for institutions, organisations, schools and businesses, designed to provide practical tools on the subject; a Manifesto for a Culture of Accessibility, co-written with partners, stakeholders and people who experience disability firsthand; a short film dedicated to the theme and a film festival with accessible screenings; and a series of outreach events curated by project partners, open to the whole community as opportunities for encounter and dialogue.
During Monday’s kick-off meeting, the project’s goals and main actions will be presented, partners will share initiatives already underway, and there will be room for ideas, proposals and new collaborations — the perfect opportunity for anyone who wants to join this network from the very start.
The event is open to all local stakeholders interested in cultural accessibility: institutions, associations, organisations, cultural operators, schools and businesses.
